70s Makeup Fashion

“History repeats itself….” and this saying synchronizes with no other term better than fashion. A lot of retro fashion has seen its revival during the 2000s, and when it came, it hit the market with a vengeance. Talking about the fashion of yesteryears, the early 60s fashion triggered the heavy use of wigs and false eyelashes paving the way for a fake look. The arrival of 70s vanquished these exhibitory fashions and concentrated more on natural looks. It was the 70s that brought a breath of fresh air into the world of fashion, and makeup. Ladies, all of a sudden, preferred exposing their ‘naked’ eyes, and this marked the grand entrée of the nude or no-makeup look. This complete natural look was enriched not only by the use of a restricted color palette and pale shades, but also by giving great attention to a spotless look. By cold-shouldering the doll-inspired look, the makeup artists of that era helped reign in the makeup kit, putting an end to the more dramatic, and eye- popping effects. The neutral colors and pastels took over the crown and popularized the low-maintenance look, shifting the attention to the natural features and treasures. Since, the 70′s also saw the popularity of disco music; it was the torchbearer for the much acclaimed fashion and trends of the 70s. From glitter to bell-bottoms, the fashion and makeup reflects the musical scores of Donna Summers, and the Bee Gees. If you are looking for a complete transformation in your look then give the 70s makeup a try. Read on to learn more about it.
How To Get The 70s Look?
Since, it sticks to only neutral colors and pastels your natural features will be more enhanced by it. You can adopt the trends and experiment with the tendencies of this golden age by enriching your makeup artistry more with the reviving classy looks.

Things Required

Lip gloss
Shimmering eye shadow
Neutral or pale eyeliner
Muted blushes
Frosted lipstick shades
Mascara (optional)
The Makeup
Get your face well moisturized. Skip foundation, if possible, or if you need some coverage to even out your skin tone, and hide blemishes you can use tinted moisturizers or illuminating foundations.
You can give a rosy glow to your cheeks by applying a mild pink blush. Since the 70s was all about pearlescent shadows, so you can work on your eyes with a shimmering eye shadow.
If you are using mascara, go for the lengthening process rather than the thickening one.
Except for the eye, the overall look of the 70′s is all about shine and glitter. You can make your lips luscious and rosy hued by using lipstick, and slick it with lip-gloss. And voila! You are done with your 70s makeup.
Fashion Of 70s
The 70s saw the rise of women, as they chose to be more independent, and daring. This applied to their closets as well. Everything from minis to maxi dress to midi skirt ruled the fashion scene. Exotic and tropical prints like large floral prints were quite common those days.
The women of the 70s wore what they wished, as there was no specific set of trend. They even wore hot pants for discos. Bell-bottoms also set a mark during that time. Trousers and trouser suits were in great demand as were platforms.
Fashion changes had affected both women and men alike during the 70s. Running shoes became essential additions to women and men’s closets despite the lack of athletic craze. Men began borrowing women’s clothing, and took to wearing makeup and using clear polish on their nails. Blouses, and slinky shirts were the ‘in’ thing for celebrities in the music and television industry.
Hair were styled straight and long, parted slightly on one side. However, Afro perms were also quite prevalent, and needed only an air dry to fluff them.

Cosmetics: Makeup Tips From Models and Movie Stars – Learning From Makeup Artists About Applying Cosmetics

Women put a great deal of importance on cosmetics, mascara and lipstick to make themselves attractive. They feel good about themselves when they are all dolled-up with cosmetics. Just hearing someone say, “you look nice today”, can make their day. Yes, cosmetics, mascara and lipstick have become basic necessities for well dressed women. In fact, most women do not feel that they are good looking without makeup. They feel they will be adversely judged if they do not look pretty. Is there some truth to this? Does society put such emphasis on appearance?

Even though looks shouldn’t matter, the question arises–do good looking people get treated with favoritism? Do they tend to have greater advantages in life? For example, would a stranger be more inclined to come to the aid of a woman who is very attractive? Might she receive better service at the auto shop? Simply because she is good looking?

An experiment was conducted in New York city. Two women were given folders filled with papers. They were told to drop them on a busy sidewalk and observe what would happen. Would anyone help them? When the attractive woman dropped her folder, suddenly people immediately came to help. Then she observed the other “average looking” woman drop her folder. She was saddened when nobody came to her friend’s assistance.

Why this differential treatment? Is this strictly a cultural phenomenon? Do we learn this from observing and imitating others? Well, studies show that babies will look more intently and longer at prettier faces. If infants could not possibly be influenced to be biased at this tender age, then we must somehow be hard-wired, rather than conditioned, to respond more favorably to more attractive people.

What can we do about it?

If it truly is an intrinsic quality of humans to show a more favorable disposition to more attractive people, then there is very little we can do about it. All the rebellion in the world won’t change human nature. If someone pays us a compliment by telling us how nice we look, would we chastise them? Would we question why they show partiality? No, rather, we would be grateful for this compliment and view it as a human kindness.

How to accept this ugly truth?

It will be easier for us to accept this human tendency if we admit that we ourselves at times are partial to this kind of admiration. Depending on if it is to our advantage or not. Favorable when it is to our advantage; not-favorable when we are at the short end of the stick. We must be realistic and remember that a person’s physical attractiveness, just like their personality, impacts every individual literally from birth to death. As unfair as at that may be, it’s reality. We can never change that. The best thing that we can do is change our attitude, learn from others and use it to our advantage.

How to use it to our advantage?

Movie stars are usually renowned for their good looks. To them, their appearance is a top priority. This is because their livelihood depends on it. In fact, some are noted to say, “It is better to look good, than to feel good!” Although, we may view this as an inordinate emphasis on vanity, in reality, it may not be. Think about it! Would they have achieved stardom in show-business due to their excellent health? Of course not! Image is everything in their world. They just know how to project their image to the best of their advantage. We must learn to do the same.

What can we learn from movie stars?

If movie stars put their best foot forwards, wouldn’t we gain limited success by applying their thinking? Consider this–just because a movie star is naturally good looking, doesn’t cause her to not wear makeup. No, she will actually put emphasis on it. Consulting makeup artists to achieve her best natural look. Accentuating the positive, and making negative features less noticeable. Their livelihood and reputation depends on their taking every advantage to look their very best, on camera and off.

How to capitalize on your looks?

Movie stars are privileged to employ the efforts of various makeup artists to achieve their best look. This gives a fresh perspective on what may look better. However, most women who are not in show business, have only done their own makeup application. As a habit, they may be using unfavorable colors and application methods. If you feel like you need a new perspective, why not consult a makeup artist? Their fresh approach and greater experience, might be just what you need to accentuate your best facial features. It is common for women to consult their hair-dressers for a new look–why not do the same with a makeup artist?

How natural cosmetics can help?

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to just accentuate positive facial features and not have to cover up imperfections. Well, the truth is many skin problems are actually a result of makeup! Most makeup products contain chemicals that irritate the skin and cause blemishes, discoloration, redness and dryness. Instead of covering up facial flaws with synthetic blends of makeup, why not try to correct these flaws by the use of natural cosmetics? You will be surprised how much better your skin will look and feel. Also you will not need to wear as much foundation and makeup! This will save you time, money, and you will be able to concentrate on accentuating positives!

Yes, looks do matter! We do live in a society that puts a great deal of emphasis on appearance. Without cosmetics, society views women as not fully dressed. We can’t change that. But we can take advantage of this. By wearing cosmetics in a way that accentuates our appearance, cosmetics can actually open doors that may otherwise be closed.

Use Mineral Makeup to Get Youthful and Beautiful Skin

Copyright (c) 2010 John Howell

A new kind of makeup is making waves in the fashion, film and cosmetics industries. It has been around for about three decades now and it is called mineral makeup.

There is a beauty culture which is now coming into the fore and it is committed to better living. Mineral makeup is based on hypoallergenic loose powder which nourishes the skin naturally, unlike the conventional makeup products. Mineral makeup does not contain dyes, mineral oil, perfumes, talc, alcohol or preservatives.

Dermatologists are pleased with it due to this reason. Makeup artists feel that mineral makeup is the best product for the skin because:

1. It is suitable for sensitive skin. A lot of women suffer from allergies, acne, clogged pores and dryness because their makeup is not compatible with their skin. Mineral makeup helps to take care of the skin while making it look beautiful.

2. It does not feel like a mask on your face. Traditional makeup is usually heavier than mineral makeup and ends up feeling like a mask. Mineral makeup is lighter in texture and even if a lot of area is covered with it, the skin can breathe more easily.

A majority of women are now switching to mineral makeup rather than sticking with traditional makeup. Since the popularity of natural food, lifestyle and remedies has emerged quite recently, the popularity of mineral makeup is also increasing only recently even though the products has been around for some time now.

Thus, there is an increasing variety of lipsticks, foundations, tonic, etc. which are available in all kinds of prices and quality groups in answer to the growing demand for them.

When mineral makeup is applied carefully and correctly, can help to relieve many dermatological conditions. The makeup cosmetic minerals are non-comedogenic and non-allergenic and since these products rarely have any artificial preservatives, additives, binders and fragrances, these products can be used by those women who have skin problems, especially those who are prone to allergies. However, these products have to be tested out by each woman as there are no lists of allergens.

Moreover, sheer cover mineral foundation can be used as a cure for different issues coming from the trials to combine the need for flawless makeup and the busy modern style of living. Mineral makeup lasts much longer than traditional makeup.

The fine particles do not crumble and fizz in the creases in the skin. You can even sleep while having your makeup on, if you need to do so, because your skin will be able to breathe through the natural layer of foundation. Another advantage is that you will not need to correct it after working out at the gym.

Products which are made from earth minerals which are ground finely can be applied on the skin even after strong skin procedures such as laser or peeling, as many of the common ingredients have anti-inflammatory and anti-irritating properties.

The more expensive combinations are also often thought to be cheaper options to spa treatments, available in one’s own bathroom.

You have to take certain things into consideration before you decide on a certain mineral makeup product.

The sudden hype over mineral makeup often causes manufacturers to put a sticker saying ‘natural’ or ‘mineral’ on the product, as there is no law restricting such a kind of labeling. Thus, you should read the ingredients carefully before you buy the product.

A large number of women are now going over to using mineral makeup due to the many advantages it offers. It is definitely worth trying out. Young women especially should try it because they can benefit from the natural healthy glow which mineral makeup foundation provides.
